I attended Class Four (April 26) at Risky Academy, and I cannot say enough good things about the experience. Tucker, Brook, and Colbe are outstanding instructors — knowledgeable, patient, professional, and genuinely passionate about what they do.
The structure of the course was phenomenal. The training combined hands-on instruction at the LZ with classroom learning in a way that kept everything engaging and practical. We trained at the LZ before sunrise to take advantage of the best air conditions, spent a few hours working on skills, then transitioned into classroom instruction during the middle of the day. In the evenings, a few hours before sunset, we returned to the LZ for more flight training. It was a perfect balance of theory and real-world practice.
The progression of training was extremely well thought out. We started with the PPG simulator, wing kiting, and practice taxis, then advanced into actual launches and landings as our confidence and skills improved. The classroom environment itself was comfortable, relaxed, and informative — making it easy to absorb a lot of information without feeling overwhelmed.
One of the highlights was that every student gets an introduction to flight through a tandem trike experience. I flew tandem with Brook, and it was incredible. Since he knew I used to skydive, he incorporated some more advanced maneuvers to help prepare me for future flying. It was both exciting and confidence inspiring.
Safety is clearly the top priority at Risky Academy. The instructors are extremely safety conscious, and every part of the training is done in stages so students become comfortable and proficient before moving on to the next level.
Beyond the training itself, you develop a real connection with both the instructors and your classmates. It becomes more than just a class — it’s a very enjoyable and adventurous experience shared with great people.
I would absolutely recommend Risky Academy to anyone interested in powered paragliding, and I would trust these instructors with my life.
I learned about Risky Academy through watching Tucker's videos on YouTube. As a therapist, his videos about using paramotoring to cure his depression were appealing to me. When I reached out to Tucker and expressed interest in an intro flight, he was super helpful and genuinely seemed to want me to enjoy myself and learn. So I pulled the trigger!
I had an introductory tandem flight with Brook. I cannot praise Brook enough for his professionalism, soft-skills, piloting knowledge and proficiency. This man has the helpful ability to make one feel SAFE, which is invaluable when going up in a paramotor for the first time.
The flight was unbelievable! It truly blew my mind, and gave me a felt sense of peace and joy that I do not think can be matched. Despite my understandable nervousness ahead of time, I was somehow NOT afraid! I think you really need to experience this to understand the profound effect of walking through your fear and finding peace on the other side.
Tucker and Brook - thank you so much for the amazing experience! I am looking forward to furthering my paramotor education with Risky Academy :)
Took a tandem flight with Brook Tuesday morning. As a former hang glider instructor and flight school owner I was impressed with Brook’s easy to understand explanation of the equipment and what to expect during the flight. The flight itself was GREAT! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to dip their tor in to the powered parachute experience!
