At Risky Academy, we take you from first steps on the ground to soaring above Arizona’s desert landscapes in just 10 days. We combine years of professional flying experience with a system designed to build your skill, confidence, and safety mindset every single day.
What to Expect

Duration: 10 consecutive days of training designed to take you from zero to capable solo pilot.

Location: Classroom and ground-school base at 3293 Combs Rd, San Tan Valley, AZ 85140.

Schedule: Training sessions held daily — combining morning and evening practical/hands-on instruction with daytime classroom work. Expect 4 hours in the morning, a break in the afternoon, and 4 hours in the evening.

Flying Style: This course is specifically for beginner foot launch training. Advanced skills and trike training will not be provided.
Who Can Enroll / Entry Requirements

Minimum age: 18 years old.

Maximum weight: 250 lbs.

Students should be in good physical condition. While you don’t need to be an athlete, expect moderate physical activity — ground handling, kiting, launching, and lifting gear.

You must be able to run short distances and carry ~80 lbs on your back.
What’s Included — Gear & Equipment Provided
When you sign up, you will not need to bring or purchase your own gear. Risky Academy supplies a full training-ready setup:

Paramotor units (motor, harness, fuel, etc.)

Paramotor wings/gliders

Safety gear: helmets, radios, reserve parachutes

Fuel, engine oil, and all necessary consumables
Gear can be purchased after training, if desired. Risky Academy is an exclusive dealer for Ozone gliders and Parajet paramotors. In addition to inventory kept in stock, any item can be ordered and shipped after training.
Training Curriculum & Safety Focus
Throughout the 10-day course you will learn and practice:

Ground-school fundamentals — aerodynamics, weather, airspace rules, FAR 103 regulations, and risk mitigation

Ground handling & kiting to build essential wing-control skills
-
Forward and reverse launching techniques (foot-launch)

Simulator practice and engine/motor familiarization

Power-taxi work, take-offs, and solo flights (~25 solo flights)

In-flight emergency procedures and proper use of reserve parachutes
Our structured, step-by-step, building-block teaching method ensures you master each skill before moving on — from ground school, to ground handling, to first flights, to solo flight proficiency. We emphasize safety first, always making conservative, risk-aware decisions, and ensuring students only fly under safe conditions.

Because Risky Academy draws students from outside the area, we recommend the following nearby hotel and lodging options for your stay:

Enrollment Agreement
By enrolling in the Risky Academy course, you acknowledge and accept:

You meet the minimum age (18) and weight requirements (≤ 250 lbs).

You are reasonably physically capable of performing the required activities (ground handling, foot-launch, gear handling, etc.).

You have no known medical conditions (heart, back, shoulder issues) that could affect your ability to safely fly.
- Flight training is 100% weather-dependent. 25 solo flights is the target standard for course completion, but not guaranteed. We will always prioritize safety over flight count.
- Full payment is required to book and becomes non-refundable within 30 days of your scheduled course start date.

Students must sign a liability waiver prior to participating.

No alcohol or recreational drugs are permitted during training hours or prior to flying.
